Nanmyo-ji Temple

An old temple said to have been founded in 771. The main hall [Important Cultural Property] is a hipped structure from the Kamakura period, and the three Fujiwara Buddhas of Yakushi Nyorai, Shakyamuni Nyorai, and Amitabha Nyorai [all Important Cultural Properties] are enshrined there. In the precincts, there is a Hokyoin pagoda from the Kamakura period and a 13-story stone pagoda from the Muromachi period, and nearby is the ``Ofuji no Ido,'' which tells the story of the love between Munenori Yagyu and Ofuji. *The suspension of viewing will be extended until August 31, 2022 to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
