Yakushiji Temple - Kondō (Golden Hall or main hall)
The Kondō (Golden Hall or main hall) was caught in the flames of war in 1528, and burned down along with the western pagoda and other structures. A karidō (temporary hall) remained for approximately 450 years afterward. In 1976, a main hall of genuine hakuhō style was rebuilt when hakuhō temple reconstruction was funded through sutra copying and temple donations. The statues of the Yakushi Triad (National Treasures) are enshrined as the principal images here. The Yakushi Triad are said to be the greatest bronze statues in the world, and there are countless people praying for their well-beings to the statues’ calm countenances.
